Le culte des Nègres
Original etching and steeple engraving after Pierre Thomas Victor Fréret (Cherbourg 1749 1807) published in Paris by Depeuille rue des Mathurins in 1795 to celebrate the first abolition of slavery obtained with the decree of February 4, 1794.(in this regard see the article by Cybèle T.Gontar cited in the references)
Very nice example printed with a raffinate colour inking on laid paper without watermark, trimmed just at the platemark that remain visible only in a few spaces, with some browning, offsetting and others minimal defects mainly at the edges otherwise in general good condition if we consider the high level of rarity.
An example of this subject printed in black is found in the collection of Archives Départementals de La Reunion, project Iconothèque Historique de l'Océan Indien.
